16 to 20 November 2009 is International Education Week (IEW)

International Education Week (IEW) 2009 is taking place from 16 - 20 November. IEW is an annual celebration of international work in schools, colleges and organisations. It is a chance to show the world how international work has benefited your schools and showcase your schools' achievements. For more information on IEW visit <> .

International work can make an important contribution to a school’s work around Every Child Matters, Community Cohesion, and Sustainable Schools. It also enhances the whole of the school curriculum. Thousands of schools have found that their international work helps engage their learners in positive learning experiences, making the curriculum more engaging and relevant. It can also help provide schools with evidence for the Self-Evaluation Form, for example: meeting pupils’ needs through partnerships, pupils’ social and cultural development and pupils’ enjoyment of learning.

Look out for the TES supplement on internationalism in education to be published on Friday 13 November.

If you know of any international activities planned for this term or during the week, or have any questions relating to IEW contact <> . Details of activities will be added to the Global Gateway ( <> ), the Department for Children Schools and Families’ international website.
